INTERVIEW:

NAMES: Matt King and Joe Froud
AGES: Matt 24 and Joe 23
LOCATION: Oxford, England, UK

HOW DID YOU GUYS HOOK UP, AND HOW DID PRODUCING TOGETHER COME ABOUT:
Joe: Matt and I went to the college together to study music when we were 16, we met there, played in a band, and started making drum and bass for fun, eventually we stopped playing live band music because we became obsessed with electronic music. About two years ago we heard dubstep, loved it so started making it.

WHATS THE SCENE LIKE UP IN OXFORD:
It’s pretty sparse, not a massive scene, but what scene it does have is quite good it’s really picked up over the past year.

CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT DUB POLITICS:
Joe: yeah, this and the last question relate quite a lot. Somewhere about a year ago, there wasn’t a lot going on in oxford in the way of dubstep, there was one really good night called club dub but it was a lot more dubby, there was a group of us into more jump up dubstep. So me and some mates: Paul Williams, Matt King and Will Howell got some money together, rented out the local community centre, got a big P.A together then got in some sick DJ’s basically to have a party, it went really well so we continued it, never expected it to carry on really, but a year later its going really strong

YOU’VE BEEN VERY KIND WITH US BY GIVING YOU’RE TUNES OUT, WILL YOU BE LOOKING FOR A LABEL SOON:
Yeah, as long as people are listening and enjoying the tunes we’re happy really, we appreciate you posting them. I suppose we’re always on the look out for labels, but its just a case of whether they’re on the look out for us. But yeah we’re sending our tunes out lots, trying to expose our tunes as much as pos, which is where you help a lot.

HOW DOES IT WORK WITH YOU TWO WHEN PRODUCING? DOES ONE DO MORE THAN THE OTHER OR WHAT:
Joe: no it’s pretty much 50/50, matt does a lot more towards the drum side and I do a lot more towards the synth side, but we cross over a lot throughout making a tune, all of our tunes are really written by us both evenly.
When we’re making tunes we almost take it in turns for like 20 minute intervals, it’s good cos the other person gets a breather, they can sit back and just listen to the track

EPTIC asks Document One a question: ask if they are getting more attention of the ladies since they went dj’s hahaha
Document One to Eptic:
Nah. A bit. Fuck knows.

SHOUT OUTS:
Dub Politics. J-ME, Dr Philth, Grifta, Sam Richards, Paul Willams, Will Howell, Free Range, Bungo Design, Bedlam, Barbarix, Some Jerk, Mag Mag, but mostly every one who’s danced at our sets

LAST QUESTION, WHEN YOU HEAR THE WORDS ‘SQUITTY BUBBLER’ WHAT DO YOU INSTANTLY THINK OF:
Volcano pussy
