This is our first ever post from a Squitty Fittie, its a rough page at the moment but if i can find people willing to help me run it i would be grateful and we can make it awesome. Here she is:

Lex’s Report

Canada’s east coast may be better known for it’s beer than bass infused electronic music, but the pioneers of the underground dubstep scene have been steadily making waves and gaining Halifax recognition as home to one of the most enthusiastic audiences around.

Most of the fans being music mixers and makers themselves; there is a youthful, earnest quality to the audience of Halifax that veteran djs recognise. Word has started to spread and headliners like Zeds Dead, the Killabits and North American groundbreaker Joe Nice have already graced the stages of Halifax more than once.

Out of this rising movement comes Bass Bias; promotions, productions and record label. Originally a weekly radio show hosted by djs TheJuice, Retroid and resident dj Doc Brown, the show features live sets of their own and special guests, as well as a blog titled TheJuice902, where they feature tracks, interviews and local events. Bass Bias has been gaining momentum for the past year and with the motto “If it’s got bass, it’s got a place”, they’ve managed to live up to their title, attempting to bridge the perceivable gap between bass music sub-genres (dubstep, dnb, electro, ect.).

The audience in Halifax has undoubtedly grown, but it has yet to be commercialised or glamourised. Even with its rising popularity, the fans and people still have the power. Those putting on the shows, are the ones going to shows. There is no aim for profit, no search for mass approval. The old fashioned, wide eyed, almost naive idea of sharing music and reaching people through music is the only incentive behind the names from Halifax.

We have been really busy here at Squitty HQ and we apologise if you though we were taking the piss with the Squitty Fittie thing, we weren’t! We are as dedicated to bringing you reviews as we are to drilling your ears with the freshest filth man has heard.

We have a list of Squitty Fitties who signed up a month or so ago, and you all probably think that it was just a cunning rouse just to get a load of girlies to like us. IT WASN’T. We want your interviews and want to hear how it’s going on your sides of the pond. We have been so caught up with our own jobs and lives we have had very little time to organise the logistics of setting up the page. To which we are eternally sorry.
