I have what i can only describe as a golden goose for you here. A rather talented gentleman by the name of PropaTingz is a U.K. born Dj with an array of talents. His sounds have been around for sometime now so i’m probably telling you things that you already know, but I don’t care. His music and production values make me smile, and not just an “I really like this” smile, I mean a full on “I need to melt this down and inject this into my brain” smile. His field of expertise is not so much Filth, but, what I want to describe as Glitchy Filth Step. By this i mean, he produces absolutely filthy sounds, but they don’t fall into the general Filth section of my brain. They now have their own section and place in my heart.

PropaTingz has the perfect transitionary sound in my view, something that easily crosses the boundaries of the underground and gives mainstream a kick in the teeth. He has played all over and has taken the American world of Dubstep by storm. I want to go on about him but i think ill let this bio fill you in on all the areas which i missed:

PropaTingz; a name synonymous with the thunderous, uncompromising sound of now known as dubstep. The man in question, Anthony Traynor, is responsible for some of the biggest dance floor bangers in the scene. Heralded as “Man of the Moment” (Fat Drop UK) he has numerous top 10 releases on dubstep’s biggest labels (BOKA, Z Audio, Black Acre, Fabric) and has emerged as one of the hottest names on the international DJ circuit. His cutting edge style has been in great demand for remix and collaboration projects for scene powerhouse producers such as 16 bit, Bassnectar and Breaks legend Freq Nasty with major support coming from N-type, Glitch Mob, Akira Kiteshi, Radio 1 DJ Kissy Sell Out amongst others. Not only a dubstep don, his previous incarnation as “BreakBeatBuddha” helped forge the now lauded California Glitch Hop scene alongside such artists as Edit and Lazer Sword. As PropaTingz he has made a triumphant return to his to his UK underground roots but to see how he got here lets rewind and take it from the edge.

The PropaTingz sound was born in the violent and depressed surroundings of late 80s inner city UK and forged in the fire of the Drum and Bass moshpit. That raw and aggressive sound left an indelible mark on the ambitious angst ridden youth that would last as he embarked on a journey that took him around the globe. After becoming disenchanted with both the UK music scene (after the governments clamping down on illegal raves in the form of the Criminal Justice Bill) and society he left for America and dove headlong into meditation study. During this period he discovered the burgeoning West Coast Burning Man scene. It was was in the dust and the heat of the playa that BreakBeatBuddha was born.

In 2007 and 2008 the releases “Mind Bombin” and “The New Resistance” took the west coast scene by storm and established him as a permanent fixture on the circuit. 2009 saw the first PropaTingz releases, the first of which, “Peacemaker”, made it on to the seminal Fabric Live mix CD, mixed by Freq Nasty. “Babylons Scared ft Dakini” (Audio Freaks) followed close behind with the mighty 16 bit on remix duties, described by Boomkat as “a technological murder weapon”; In 2010 the pace quickened as Propa took turns on the remix duties remixing 16 bits slaughter house dubstep anthem “Chainsaw Calligraphy” (BOKA). His crunk step take on the original, described by ST Holdings as “devastating, pure and simple” earned him accolades and established him as a major player in genre.“PoorManStyle/Wickedest Sound” (Of Road/Black acre) found its way to Kissy Sell Outs “Young Blood” feature on BBC Radio 1 and was an instant dubstep rave smash. “Hustle Hard/Stay Alive” (Bad Acid/Black Acre) saw Propa return to his UK grime roots and was described by the listening booth as “a leviathan of block rocking bass science…”

The Future; look forward to a slew of remixes in the pipeline, an EP and World Tour…..the word on the street is that there is a live project in the mix too….. Big Tingz Indeed!

Now, you and I are one with the Talented Mr. Anthony Traynor, and i hope you feel a bit wiser for the read. With that said, do what all loyal Dubstep enthusiasts do and go out and collect the productions that PropaTingz has released, put them in mixes, play them to mum and gran, play them loud and tell everyone you know that this is the Dogs Bollocks.

The free track we have is not a recent track, nor is it a filthy dubstep track (a first for us), but PropaTingz is real busy right now, and I’m not going to pester him, so i have chosen a free track he has given out in the past as a little introduction to those of you who haven’t already had your ear canals penetrated with his syrupy goodness. The track is called Hustlers Concerto, and is a perfect example of his Glitch Hop skills. Listen to the elements contained within each production and you’ll soon come to see why I’m so fucking exited about this artist. Propa Tingz - Hustlers Concerto

Santa Cruz born artist Minnesota is a mystery to us here at Squitty. We’re being honest when we say we don’t now an awful lot about this guy. We would try to elaborate and give you some delightfully long winded explanation of his sound and the power involved, but we know we don’t have to tell you all this for you to be excited.
